Sherbrooke Pickleball Association (Summer 2024)

A sport that is constantly growing in Sherbrooke.

Here is the schedule for this summer.

Summary of regulations

  1. A game is won by a player (or team) who first reaches 11 points, with a 2-point difference.
  2. A point is only counted when you have the service; if you lose the rally, there are no points but only a change of server or side (opponent).
  3. The server must ensure that the receiver is ready before serving. The server must call out the score before serving, starting with the server's score followed by the receiver's score and finally the server's number. The service is performed behind the baseline and must be performed in a downward-to-upward motion. When serving, the ball must be hit in the air, below the waist; it must be released from the hand (before the strike) and must not touch the ground before the server's strike. Only one serve may be performed per player; if the ball falls into the opposite rectangle, play continues; if the ball is outside the regulation opposite rectangle, the service is lost.
  4. After the server's strike, the ball must go into the opposite rectangle of the court without touching the net or the ZAC line located 7 feet from the net. The ball must touch the ground before the receiver returns it and, similarly, the receiver's return to the service side must touch the ground before the service side returns it.
  5. Afterwards, the ball may be hit on the fly or after a bounce on the ground. In other words, there must be two bounces, one on each side of the court (the two-bounce rule), before it can be hit on the fly. The controlled action zone (CAZ) is the 7-foot area on each side of the net. The ball cannot be hit on the fly when the striker is inside it. If the striker is in this zone, the ball can only be hit if it has touched the ground within this zone.
