Women on bicycles (Mural)

Mural on King Street West in Sherbrooke.

This mural is an initiative of CALACS Agression Estrie to commemorate International Women's Rights Day, which is celebrated on March 8 of each year. Marie-Philippe Plante, an artist from Sherbrooke, wanted to depict the courage and determination of women, going through difficulties with heart. The women depicted in the mural inspire strength and movement, as does feminism. They come out of a rainstorm representing all the fights, the problems as well as the changes and move towards a luminous estren landscape. They are women in action, go-getters, bearers of change and hope. Bicycles are a symbol of independence and freedom.
Through this mural, we want to recognize women and their history, their struggles and their works. In this sense, it was important for us that it be directed by a woman. Thank you, Marie-Philippe, for your involvement in the project
