Day 3: Havana

What a beautiful city to visit! There is old and new. It is a constantly changing place. I start with a short walk on the Malecon with discharges from the sea. The next photo is of a little boy one morning. I titled this photo: Erased Existence. Did you find the kid? I like to observe life around me. I had the chance to observe the Cubans for 12 hours today. I walked so much that my sandals have no more grip!!! Chinatown. A magnificent cathedral on Christmas Day. People are paid to clean the streets. Many Cubans throw their garbage in the street. I've even seen people throw their bottles straight into the sea. An ultra-modern shopping center with video games. Stores with shiny floors, but with few goods. A fridge at 3880 CUC ($5430 CAD) I wonder who could possibly spend such a big sum on a fridge... The next exciting step was queuing for 15 minutes to enter a store that sells soap, shampoo, diapers, etc. Like a pharmacy without drugs...phew, it was long for nothing special for a Quebecer who can buy whatever he wants...when he wants. Diapers at 290 CUP for 35 diapers. Almost 9 CUP for a layer, the price of a ham sandwich. All products are expensive in Cuba... Luckily the food on the street is not expensive. I taste an excellent Guarapo, it's a natural sugar cane juice for 2 CUP ($0.12) Had to wait to be served as refreshments are served in glasses. You have to wait for the clerk to do the dishes before you can taste... very ecological! I then eat a kind of hot croissant with ham inside. I attend an unpredictable baseball game. People have to watch their heads...these kids are very good. I stay on the lookout and I sometimes return the ball to the kids. I see a scaffold that I saw two years ago... everything is still in place. Here is a nice way to decorate a building under repair, I find the idea brilliant. I find by watching people a secret place to buy Revello with a plastic stick... I'm disappointed... it's not super good for the environment. I paid 5 CUP ($0.30) in a place full of tourists. I am sure that many tourists do not know the existence of this currency. They pay 7 times more for an ice cream in the neighboring kiosk. For the rest of the day I allow myself to explore the city using a double-decker bus for tourists. Why not! It's only 10 CUC ($14) for a tour lasting 1h45. Here is a view of the Malecon Revolution Square and a tribute to Che Guevara. The inefficient transport system. The wait is endless. Patience is required in Cuba for those who want to move. This is why I love my bike!!!
